History
Michael Wolff established the film production company fact+film in 1992, after completing his studies of social sciences and working as a journalist for ten years for ARD radio and TV editorial offices. The first industry films and television documentaries were produced in his study at home. Soon an additional office room was rented and a new staff member hired. That was the time when film reports for television were edited with video recorders and not with computers. Slowly the first computer editing systems became widespread. In cooperation with other producers Michael Wolff established the postproduction studio “Montagehalle” and organized further training for editors on the new film editing systems for over two years.
In 1996 fact+film produced the first extensive international documentary for WDR/ZDF and 3sat. For “Ocean Cities” the company received its first international award.
In 1999 fact+film moved to Contrescarpe in Bremen’s cultural district. In the new spacious office a separate editing workstation was set up and shortly thereafter camera equipment with a team vehicle was purchased. Film production work was expanded to include functions of a full-service multimedia agency. fact+film played a key role in an exhibition project for the first time. The marzipan salon was created for Niederegger in Lübeck.
More and more new documentary films were developed, primarily in the field of science and technology. fact+film organized the production of these films all over the world. Talks on the first international coproduction began in 2004. Today documentaries are offered by fact+film worldwide via distribution partners.
